DAVID ANTHONY-OUTSTANDING FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER



Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada; David Leslie Anthony’s introduction to fashion photography began while a Creative Director for some of the leading hairdressing academies in the beauty industry. A self-taught photographer, David eventually moved into photography full time beginning his career in the fall of 1990 in Los Angeles, CA. David’s work gained the attention of several leading denim companies and magazines and he worked in Los Angeles for a few years, before relocating to Europe where he worked in the Paris and Madrid markets. There, he assisted and worked on his personal photography shooting small advertising and editorial work. After a period of time, David returned to North America where he worked for a short time in Canada before finally returning to the U.S. Currently, David Leslie Anthony resides in Los Angeles while primarily working in the New York, Paris, London, Milan, Asia, and Miami markets.
David Leslie Anthony’s editorial work includes Harper’s Bazaar (Intl. Editions), Harper’s Bazaar (U.K), Marie Claire (Intl. Editions), Conde Nast Publications, ELLE (Canada), Rolling Stone, Cosmopolitan (U.K.), British GQ, Marie Claire (U.K.), Cosmopolitan Australia, Joy Magazine (Spain), Zink Magazine, Essence Magazine, Today’s Bride (Canada), Chicago Magazine, and CS Magazine; plus many more. He has shot advertising campaigns for Blake-Standard; Cino NYC; Hot Tuna Apparel; Caterpillar Clothing 2007; Anvil Clothing 2007; Von Dutch Originals 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008 (U.S. and European Campaigns); Bakers Shoes 2005, 2006, & 2007; Pepsi Worldcup U.K. (with Britney Spears); Michelob
Fashion Campaign; Alberto-Culver (U.S. & Canada), and Samsung DigitAll. David’s work also appears in the ABC television show “Ugly Betty” (produced by Salma Hayek), where it is on the walls and in the pages of “Mode Magazine” (the fictitious magazine) ; and he recently directed music videos for the band Kill Hannah and Jim Mullen; and in-store films for Blake-Standard and Funkshion Clothing Company.

In 1998, David won the Bronze award at the Alpha Fashion Awards for a fashion commercial he directed on a total budget of $800.00 and proceeded to garner another 18 awards for his fashion photography. By 1999, David had a total of 42 awards for his photography. He has worked extensively with top Canadian fashion designer Yumi Eto, and has photographed numerous artists in the music industry for Sony Canada, Universal Canada, Warner Music Canada, and various independents. In 2003, the US Ad Review selected David’s Michelob Campaign “as one of the best campaigns” for that year. In 2005, David’s work was also featured prominently in the book “Outdoor Lighting: Fashion and Glamour” (published by AVA Publishing, London, England). In 2008 David was named by MAX Magazine (Ukraine), as “one of the top Five Fashion Photographers to Watch”. Recently, David has been interviewed by publications in Canada, India, England, and France. David’s photographs have appeared in both solo and group exhibitions in Miami, London, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York and Chicago.
