Jim Grillo, CMP is the founder of Hereschicago.com, Chicago ’s resource directory for meeting and event planners worldwide.
Jim has been in the Meetings and Hospitality industry for 16 years and has received his CMP (certified meeting planner) status in February of 2004. Jim is the Past President of the Chicago MPI Area Chapter (2003-2004) and the Past President of the Hospitality, Sales and Marketing Assn. of Illinois (2001-2004). He received the prestigious MPI Chicago Area Chapter Manager of the Year Award (2004-2005) and the Hall of Fame Award through the same organization for his service as a leader of the chapter. Other proud moments include receiving an Emmy Award for Alternative Media/News in 2008 and another Hall of Fame
Award from Illinois Meetings and Events Magazine in 2008.
He is a former ambassador for the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau and currently serves as a Mentor for the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau as well as a Committee member on the MPI International Membership Committee. As a hobby, Jim is a part time actor and you will see him on the Travel Channel's "Vacation Challenge" as a Travel Planner and on the History Channel's documentary "Taking out Al Capone". Jim emcees moderates and speaks for various industry events around the country and is happy to lend a hand whenever possible to elevate the meetings profession.
